Richard Carter BSc (Hons) Dunelm, FRSA, MBCS

UK web design consultant, Richard Carter

I’m a web designer and front-end web developer currently based in the Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England, and have particular expertise with WordPress and frontend web development.

I’ve also been known to write books (7 to date!) and give talks/presentations on web design and web software such as Drupal and Magento, and I am available as a technical reviewer for web design books.

I am a member of the British Computing Society, and am a fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). Take a look at my CV, or see what I’m up to on my blog. In a voluntary capacity, I act as a business mentor for Young Enterprise North East groups of students at Northumbria University.

Peacock Carter Ltd

I am Managing Director of Peacock Carter Ltd, the North East web design agency. Established in 2006, Peacock Carter has grown to have a great reputation for Magento and Magento Enterprise work, WordPress and web consultancy projects. Peacock Carter has worked with clients including the Scottish Government, the NHS and businesses large and small in the UK and abroad (South Korea, America, Dubai, Belgium, France, Sweden, Hungary…).

The business is based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England (if you haven’t visited the city/region, it’s worth a visit), with a weird and wonderful array of clients from the local area, UK-wide and abroad, too.

LEGO & Bricks McGee

Durham Cathedral in Lego - altar

I volunteered at Durham Cathedral to build the cathedral in LEGO bricks, part of a three year project called Open Treasure, to fund restoration work and a new world-class museum space for the cathedral (which is now open!). The LEGO model raised around £300,000 over three years with a team of 70 or so volunteers: a fantastic experience.

I’m a huge AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO), and own a quantity of LEGO no sane human being would ever contemplate; I also build custom LEGO models by commission, and particularly love running LEGO workshops for museums and other institutes throughout the UK.
