A bizarre example of what is means to be British, inspired by my train journey from Durham to Newcastle, on my way to the Peacock Carter office today.
The train was busy, and all of the standard class coaches were full, but, as usual, the first class coaches were pretty empty. You’d think people would disperse to the emptier first class coaches, but no; they stood in the vestibules of the crowded standard class coaches!
I’m pretty sure only the British are so class-conscious to do this, but I could be wrong. Anyone else have weird experiences of Britishness?
